Riverhead to Host Rapid Recovery Towing Night and Go-Kart Exhibition

It will be a virtual smorgasbord of racing Saturday night June 22nd at
Barbara & Jim Cromarty’s Riverhead Raceway as they will host Rapid Recovery
Towing night for the NASCAR Modifieds who’ll run in a 35-lap feature event,
Twin 15’s for the Late Models as well the annual East End Kart Racing
Go-Kart exhibition. Completing the busy and diverse night of racing are the
Figure Eights, Blunderbusts, Legend Race Cars and a 4/6-Cylinder Truck
Enduro all starting at 6:00 pm.

Rapid Recovery Towing are in their second year as a seasonal sponsor for the
NASCAR Modifieds in 2013 and once again it’s expected that the Hampton Bays
based towing and heavy recovery firm will display a portion of their state
of the art fleet at the track. Going into competition on Rapid Recovery
night Howie Brode of E. Islip, Shawn Solomito of Islip along with his
younger brother Timmy Solomito, Tom Rogers Jr. of Patchogue and Eddie
Brunnhoelzl III of Levittown are all either at the top or moving towards the
top of the 2013 championship chase. Other championship hopefuls ready for
action will be John Beatty Jr. of Merrick, David Roys of Coram, Dave
Sapienza of Riverhead, Kevin Orlando and Dave Brigati both of Calverton,
Vinny Biondolillo of Farmingville and the returning Jason Agugliaro of
Islip.

The Late Model troops will compete in a Twin 15 feature event format as the
class in part of the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series second tier program
with two-time defending champion Mike Bologna of Melville leading the troops
into action. Going into the Twin 15’s Roger Oxee of Peconic and Jeremy
McDermott of Riverhead, both feature event winner already in 2013 are tied
for the championship lead with 136 and are trailed by Scott Kulesa of
Georgetown, Ma., Bologna and Shawn Patrick of Brightwaters, Shawn has also
found victory lane. Other drivers out to grab the brass ring are Chris
LaSpisa of Shirley, Ken Alfano of Southold, Kevin Metzger of Massapequa,
Peter “Buzzy” Eriksen of Baldwin and Arne Pedersen of Mastic Beach.

The annual East End Kart Racing club which is run by NASCAR Modified driver
Dave Brigati and his wife Cindy along with Linda Solomito will have both an
off track on track display during the course of the program. The EEKR club
runs select Sunday’s through out the year and deep into the Fall months at
Riverhead Raceway and this annual exhibition is extremely popular with club
members as well the Riverhead Raceway fans.

The question in the 4/6-Cylinder Truck Enduro 50-lapper will be can anyone
stop the Greg Harris show this year. The Riverhead driving talent had won
both races as of press time for the class but they did have a race on
Father’s Day still to contest before this Saturday’s race. The only driver
who has come close is Greg’s father-in-law Robin Vollmoeller who was in
position to win the Memorial Day race before a last lap encounter with a
lapped truck ended that bid. Among those out to derail Harris will be Don
Nelson of Rocky Point, Russ Jansen of Medford and Hank Hallock of Riverhead.

The Blunderbust and Legend Race Car features will go 20-laps each on the
night, while the Figure Eights will battle for 15-circuits.
