8-Cylinder Enduro to Join Stock Cars at Riverhead on July 13th

Saturday night July 13th at Riverhead Raceway will find the class that started the Enduro craze back in 1986 on Long Island, the 8-Cylinder machines, joining the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series stock cars at Barbara & Jim Cromarty’s famed quarter mile facility. A 35-lap NASCAR Modified feature will highlight the NASCAR portion of the program that starts at 6:00 pm.

All the tested tough 8-Cylinder Enduro regulars are primed and ready for their second stint under the Saturday night lights July 13th. Anthony Pizzo of Lake Ronkonkoma is hoping to find his way back to victory lane again this season as are fellow veteran drivers Jess Martines of Shirley and Ed Brown Jr. of Mastic Beach. Other top drivers to keep an eye on are Dominic Ranieri of East Northport, Donald “Woot” Lawrence of Southampton, Bob Baker of Shirley, Bob Haeger of Hampton Bays, Kris “Crunchy” Dane of Hicksville and Jim Laid Jr. of Islip.

The championship tussle in the NASCAR Modifieds will enter its second half of 2013 with Howie Brode of East Islip and Tom Rogers Jr. of Patchogue the top two drivers in the ranking going into action July 6th. Also still in the hunt are defending track champion Shawn Solomito of Islip as well as his younger brother Timmy and Ed Brunnhoelzl III of Levittown, David Roys of Coram, Dave Sapienza of Riverhead and John Beatty Jr. of Merrick.

The Late Models will make their first start since June 22nd and leading the class back into action is point leader Roger Oxee of Peconic already a two time winner this season. Scott Kulesa of Georgetown, Ma, two-time and defending champion Mike Bologna of Melville, Jeremy McDermott of Riverhead, Peter “Buzzy” Eriksen of Baldwin, Kevin Metzger of Massapequa and Chris LaSpisa among others will all be in action in their 25-lap contest.

The Dumicich family Frank Sr. and Jr. of East Quogue will head the charge of the returning Super Pro Trucks into action in a 20-lap contest. The father and son duo rest atop the current ranking and are being chased by the likes of Lou Maestri of Deer Park, defending champion Roger Turbush of Riverhead, Erin Dumicich-Solomito of Hampton Bays, Mike Albasini of Flushing, Brian McElearney of North Babylon and “Dangerous” Dave Koenig of Freeport.
