Dave Roys Set to Make Season Debut

Dave Roys hasn’t made a start at Riverhead Raceway yet this season, but he’s set to make his return this Saturday night in the 20-lap Charger feature.

Roys and the Krantz Motorsports team that he raced for in the NASCAR Modifieds divison last season parted ways just prior to the start of this year’s racing season. Roys wasn’t happy with how everything transpired, but he’s looking forward to getting back behind the wheel for the first time this year.

“I’m very excited,” said Roys. “I knew I’d be running my friend, Joey Paprocky’s car this year. But it took longer than I expected to redo the car and between that and running my business this is roughly about the fastest time we could get it done.”

Roys has five years experience in a Charger car before he moved to a Late Model and eventually a NASCAR Modified.

He’ll be kept busy this Saturday because in addition to being behind the wheel of the No. 26 Charger car he’s going to be helping out Dave Brigati as he tries to qualify for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Hoosier Tire 200.

“I’ve crew chiefed for some of the Tour guys in the past and they’re just bringing me on as an extra set of eyes,” said Roys. “Hopefully we’ll get both cars going fast.”
