Drivers Take Advantage of Final Shake Down Before Opening Night on May 2nd

It was a chilly afternoon as the second and final round of pre-season practice took place at Riverhead Raceway on Sunday April 25, 2015.

After a recent announcement, George Brunnhoelzl III is scheduled to drive for Bill Park in three races in 2015. In practice he took a few laps in the East West Marine No. 20, the four time Whelen Southern Modified champ plans on driving the car on opening night on Saturday, May 2, 2015.

Coming off a career best with five wins from the 2014 season, Richie Davidowitz shook down his No. 25 Legend car. His father Wally also did some laps around the track in the black No. 25x.

“Dynamite” Dan Turbush was back behind the wheel of a Charger car during practice. Turbush was shaking down the now purple and black No. 81, normally driven by Chris Turbush. The purple and black scheme is for the awareness of Crohn’s Disease.

There was a great turn out in the Late Model division as veterans Roger Oxee and Shawn Patrick were on the track. Patrick’s car was not decaled but the body color was black instead of the normal color of white that we are used to seeing. Jarrod Hayes was also testing out an unmarked Late Model as well.

With opening night just around the corner on Saturday, May 2, 2015, drivers hope they have their cars set up correctly to start off the 2015 season. The pit gates at Riverhead Raceway will be open at 10:00am with practice starting at noon. General admission gates will open at 3:00pm. Time Trials will kick off at 4:15pm with the Legend cars followed by the Modifieds at 5:00pm. The first green flag is scheduled to wave at approximately 5:30pm.
