10 to Go with Allan Pedersen

Last week we did a 10 to Go with Legend car driver, Artie Pedersen III. This week we decided to talk to his brother and fellow competitor, Allan Pedersen driver of the No. 52 Legend.

How did you start racing?

Allan Pedersen: I started in the Long Island Karting Association in a Kit Kart at 6. It was the year my brother started, I ran up with him and was pretty much a division behind him and I got his hand me down cars and then I went into Legends because he went into Legends.

What do you like about racing at Riverhead Raceway?

Pedersen: It’s got to be the competition by far. Anywhere else you get about 12 cars at most, here there’s 27, if you run good here you can run good anywhere.

What do you like about running the Legends?

Pedersen: Same thing, the competition. They said [the Legends] was hard to drive but, once you get the handle of it it’s easy.

What tracks have you raced at?

Pedersen: I’ve raced at Riverhead, Bethel [New York], Chemung [New York] which is really far and Waterford [Connecticut].

Which is your favorite track?

Pedersen: I really like Waterford because it’s a flat track but, it’s really fast and the speed there, I like carrying speed it feels good.

What has been your favorite moment in your career so far?

Pedersen: A couple weeks ago when I finished second because that’s the point where I am like ‘hey I’m competitive for a win’

What has been your worst moment?

Pedersen: I would say last year in a heat race like three or four weeks before the end of the season, I got put into the wall the car was destroyed and I didn’t think we would be back. We were trying to keep in the top ten in points and we didn’t think we would be back but we were able to fix it and continue.

Do you have any ritual you do before the race?

Pedersen: I fist bump [my crew man] Chris Perry, what we do is we put my Go Pro in the car and I always fist bump him before the race.

Where do you see your career in the future?

Pedersen: The next step would be going into a bigger class here, Late Model, Modified, something. I don’t know how we’re going to do it because we’re trying to get Artie in the Modified.

Which would you like to be in Late Model or Modified next?

Pedersen: I would say Modified because there’s a better chance to get into something better than that.
