Plans Revealed: Enduros Postponed to Sun. May 15

Even though the weather was near perfect for Saturday afternoons final practice day at Riverhead Raceway the forecast for Sunday and the May Meltdown Enduro opening day was very ominous. With that in mind Riverhead Raceway owners Eddie & Connie Partridge and Tom Gatz made the call Saturday night to postpone the May Meltdown until Sunday May 15th at 12:30 pm.

Indeed Sunday dawned a very dank and cool day with temperatures not expected to leave the upper 40’s on Eastern Long Island.  While everyone was disappointed with the postponement it actually was a bad news/good news scenario for some Enduro race teams who were caught short on time preparing for the new season of racing. Those teams now have some extra time readying their cars and can still enter the May Meltdown by visiting www.riverheadraceway.com and clicking onto the link at the top of the home page. Due to the rain out there will be NO late fees charged to enter the May 15th May Meltdown until Wednesday May 11th, which is the standard day that late fees apply for all Enduro events.

With the Memorial Day weekend Spring Showdown set for Sunday May 29th it will be a busy two weeks for the Enduro race teams who are readying, willing and able to except the challenge. The Spring Showdown program will also feature a 30-lap Blunderbust main event that will feature time trial qualifying for the class starting at 12:30 pm.
