I Love America Night Fireworks Rescheduled To Kickoff Labor Day Weekend

Riverhead Raceway owners Eddie & Connie Partridge and Tom Gatz announced Tuesday that the I Love America Night Fireworks spectacular that fell victim to flash flooding this past Saturday has been rescheduled for next week Saturday September 3rd. The NASCAR Whelen All American Series program that accompanies the Fireworks will kick off the traditional Labor Day weekend of racing at the popular Long Island oval that will conclude with the Labor Day Luau Enduro and Eagle Auto Mall Modified Crate program Sunday afternoon September 4th.

After the Saturday deluge at the track a three day stretch of sunny and dry conditions allowed the water to recede and for the Riverhead Raceway staff to access the damage caused by the flash flood as well track management to make a few schedule adjustments. First on the list was to reschedule the I Love America Night Fireworks show and once arrangements were made with both Bay Fireworks and the Town of Riverhead the September 3rd Labor Day weekend date was secured with both parties. The three day Labor day weekend honors all the hard working men and women of the United States and what better way to celebrate the holiday than with a huge Fireworks extravaganza provided by Bay Fireworks.

On the NASCAR stock car racing menu will be a 50-lap Late Model event with time trial qualifying as well the INEX Legend Race Car National Qualifier that was also lost to the flooding of August 20th. The $500 to win INEX legend Race Car event will go 30-laps with a $300 Fast Time Award on the line for the quickest driver quickest in qualifying. The race will also offer lap money to the top three cars each lap. The NASCAR Modifieds will compete in a 40-lap feature event while the hair raising Figure Eight stars race a 15-lap contest. The Blunderbust and Super Pro Truck classes are also in action with both going to post in 20-lap features.

The Gut & Go Enduro originally schedules for September 3rd has been dropped but the class will still find themselves racing three times in a 7 day stretch from September 4th through September 11th.

Sunday action will find the Eagle Auto Mall Modified Crates running under the sun in a 30-lap main event that will see the field qualify through time. Following that race a complete car of Labor Day Luau Enduro racing will be contested with the Grand Enduro stars being joined by the Truck Enduro, 8-Cylinder Enduro, 4/6-Cylinder Car Enduro, Gut & Go Enduro and a Mini 8 Enduro making for one busy afternoon of racing.

Feature event racing will go green on Saturday night September 3rd at 7:00 pm with the Labor Day Luau program getting underway at 12:30 pm.
