INEX Legend Race National Qualifier Rescheduled to Sat. Sept. 3rd

There were INEX Legend Race Cars on Long Island from as far away as North Carolina when a sudden summer storm swept Eastern Long Island Saturday morningĀ  August 20th causing flash flooding at Riverhead Raceway. With standing water as deep as 3-4 feet in some sections of the track property the night’s race card which included the annual INEX National Qualifier for the Legend Race Cars was called off. Tuesday it was announced by Eddie & Connie Partridge and Tom Gatz that the INEX National Qualifier will now take place next Saturday September 3rd.

Whether or not the drivers who towed north of the famed Mason Dixon line can return for the September 3rd event at Riverhead Raceway remains to be seen a star studded field of local INEX Legend Race Car talent will be vying for the $500 to win purse. Dylan Slepian of Dix Hills is not only the defending race winner of the INEX National Qualifier but is also the 2015 track champion at Riverhead and he’ll be seeking to duplicate his fete of last summer.

Current Riverhead raceway championship leader Vinny Delaney of Holtsville and his nearest rival John Beatty Jr. of Merrick will not only be gunning for the $500 to win in the feature but as well the $300 Fast Time award in qualifying. Four time winner in 2016 Kyle Ellwood of Riverhead along with Bryan Kelly of Aquebogue and “Big Money” Richie Davidowitz of East Moriches will be ready for the big race as well.

George Tomko Jr. of Aquebogue, Jim Sylvester of Massapequa, Greg Harris of Riverhead and tested tough Kevin Nowak of Medford are other top ten point earners at Riverhead who’ll bear watching in the INEX National Qualifier. Kyle Soper of Manorville is expected to compete as are Ray Fitzgerald of Manorville, Mike Van Houten of Jamesport, Ryan Lutz of Miller Place and Eric Hersey of Commack. Soper and Lutz have both visited victory lane already in 2016.

Aside from the $500 winners share of the purse and $300 Fast Time award lap money will be offered for the top three cars per lap with other special awards to be handed out as well.

Joining the INEX Legend Race Cars September 3rd will be the I Love America Night Fireworks, 50-lap Late Models, NASCAR Modifieds, Figure Eights, Blunderbusts and Super Pro Trucks. Feature event racing is set for 7:00 pm.
