Bio: "Michael Sweet began racing at the age of 18 in 1972 at the Riverhead raceway with a 1937 Chevy coupe Modified originally built and raced by the famous ARDC midget driver Johnny Coy. After a few shows at Riverhead, Mike brought the car to Freeport Speedway where it was very fast, but short lived as Mike flipped the car end over end down the backstrech coming to a stop in turn 3. This was a 5th of a mile track with a football field in the middle and a baseball field past the wall in turn 3. It was the last car to flip at the old Freeport track.

Mike ran a late model stock car at Freeport in 1976, a former Jim Zacharias car (Of Tioga fame) and then ran the Super Stocks at Freeport and Riverhead Raceway till 1981 where Mike won the 50 lap championship race and the last feature run for that division at Riverhead in 1981."

Where is he now? "Mike is currently the owner of Precision Powerglides Racing Transmissions, building circle track powerglide transmissions for IMCA modifieds, Super Stocks, Street Stocks, Pure Stocks and Drag racers. He also is the general sales manager of a GMC truck dealership."
