NEW PIT GATE OPENING AND START TIMES IN 2010
RIVERHEAD RACEWAY

During the recent Riverhead Raceway Competitors' Winter Meetings teams that participate in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series at Barbara & Jim Cromarty's quarter mile facility were notified of new pit gate opening and start times for 2010. Riverhead will open for its 61st year of stock car racing with a doubleheader weekend May 1st and May 2nd.

ARTIE TAPPEN PASSES AWAY
LONG ISLAND RACING

On Monday, March 1, Long Island Racing lost one of its legends, Artie Tappen. Tappen made famous the red No. 14 modifieds, which he raced all over Long Island and beyond. Visitation will be at Moloney's Holbrook Funeral Home on 825 Main St. during the times of Wednesday, March 3 7-9 p.m. and Thursday, March 4 2-4 & 7-9 p.m.

GLENN DIXON WINS A LEGENDS CAR
LONG ISLANDERS ABROAD

Pure luck catapulted Long Islander Glenn Dixon from being the holder of a 1-in-200 chance in a raffle drawing to being the owner of the 2010 Legends car raffled off by Bethel Motor Speedway this past weekend. His name was drawn by Greg Moldt, a designer from Shangri-La II Speedway (NY), who was recruited from a nearby booth at the Oakdale Mall Show in Johnson City, NY, to draw the winning ticket at 3 p.m. on Sunday, just minutes after the final ticket had been sold.

PEPITONE PLEDGES SUPPORT TO BUTTNER CAUSE
RIVERHEAD RACEWAY

Riverhead Raceway Blunderbust racer Matt Pepitone, the self-professed Clown Prince of Racing, plans to pledge his 2010 winnings to six-year-old Julianna Buttner who has a rare form of leukemia and needs a bone marrow transplant. In addition, Pepitone, a stand-up comedian, will be a part of Comedy for a Cause: Hope for Julianna at Ladakins on Mill Pond in Moriches on Weds. Feb. 24 and Mar. 3, where 100% of the admission collected will go toward Buttner's transplant.
