Angela’s House to Sponsor Trenton Indoor Races

While every spectator will be watching the cars zipping around inside Trenton, N.J.’s Sun National Bank Center on February 7-8, Darren Krantz is hoping that they’ll all be thinking about the primary sponsor for the race, Angela’s House.

Angela’s House is a non-profit organization on Long Island that helps give care to terminally ill children. Bob Policastro started the organization in 1992 after he lost his daughter, Angela, a little over a year after her birth in 1989.

Krantz’s race team, Krantz Motorsports, races weekly at Long Island’s Riverhead Raceway in the NASCAR Modified division with David Roys and in the Charger division with Chad Churilla. They race to raise money for Angela’s House by selling laps to sponsors. The money from each completed lap is donated directly to Angela’s House. Krantz decided that being the primary sponsor for the Trenton indoor race, as well as an associate sponsor for the Atlantic City Gambler’s Classic at Boardwalk Hall, would be a good way to market Angela’s House to more people off Long Island.

“I think the more venues that we put Angela’s House’s name into, the more people will hopefully understand what it is,” said Krantz. “Bob Policastro’s ultimate dream is to take it beyond Long Island. So we are trying to take the marketing beyond Long Island as well.”

In addition to sponsoring both races, Churilla will be attempting to run both events in the champ kart division along with his teammate for both events, Lisa Nablach.

“I heard it’s not easy to make the race,” said Krantz. “But if he makes it or not we are all there to have a good time and most importantly just make sure that the Angela House name has awareness.”

Churilla has never even driven a champ kart before. He’ll make his first laps in the kart in practice at Boardwalk Hall. He does have karting experience, though, from his days racing shifter karts.

“From what I understand the champ kart is all about momentum and being precise,” said Churilla. ” On the racing side we are going more just to have fun. I don’t think we have any expectations.”

But Churilla knows that it’s about more than just the racing at these two events.

“I know that it’s going to be good for Angela’s House because it’s a new venue so it’s a different audience which is going to help spread the name and the awareness which is the best part.”
