Bonsignore Wins the 28th Annual Richie Evans Memorial 100

Justin Bonsignore scored a victory in one of the biggest tour-type modified races of the year by winning the Richie Evans Memorial 100 at New Smyrna Speedway on Friday night.

It rained much of Friday in the New Smyrna area, which resulted in qualifying being cancelled, and the field was set based on points. Since Bonsignore had not raced the entire week he had to start the 100-lap event from the rear of the field along with Tuesday night’s Daytona Battle at the Beach winner Doug Coby.

The World Series point’s leader Ron Silk led most of the race, but lost the lead to Eric Goodale with 15 laps to go. Bonsignore quickly made his way by Silk as well and set his sights on Goodale and the win.

Bonsignore made the move by Goodale with two laps remaining to score the victory.

Goodale, Silk, Chuck Hossfeld, and Coby completed the top five.

Meanwhile, Silk scored the championship win in the World Series. He scored three wins throughout the week and beat 2013 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour champion Ryan Preece for the title.

Silk Wins John Blewett III Memorial Race

On Wednesday night at New Smyrna Speedway, Ron Silk scored his third victory of the World Series week in the John Blewett III Memorial 76-lap event.

Silk led for a majority of the race after he took the lead from Tommy Barrett on lap three.

Ryan Preece, Barrett, Eric Goodale, and Matt Hirschman completed the top five.
