Riverhead Regulars Prepare for Opening Night

Not even Mother Nature could keep Riverhead Raceway regulars from their final testing day this past Sunday, April 26, 2014 before opening night on Saturday, May 3rd.

A decent amount of cars from each division were in attendance in order to get their cars prepped and ready for race day.

Roger Oxee, driver of the No. 39 Late Model, thankfully decided not to retire this past season and he is excited for the 2014 season to begin.

“We’ve got the same car,” said, Oxee, “same crew, same sponsors, same old man driving it but I’m looking forward to driving in circles especially with a checkered flag in hand.”

After coming in fifth in points with five wins during his Rookie season in the Super Pro Trucks, Mark Stewart is looking to better his standing this season as his has his eye on the championship.

Modified driver, Dave Sapienza sold his original No. 36 car over the break and replaced it with the No. 5. With the help of Frank Vigliarolo, Dave was able to purchase two more modifieds and a Sprint Cup trailer in order to transport them all.

The Fortin Family will be making a return in the Modified division this season at Riverhead Raceway. John Fortin, driver of the No. 84 hopes to add another championship to his resume. While his children, John and Amber are going to try and run as many races as they can depending on sponsorship.

Once again, Nick Brigandi and his Brigandi Brothers tow vehicles will once again be taking care of  all of the drivers in the infield of Riverhead Raceway’s 1/5 of a mile oval.

On opening night, May 3rd the pit gates will open at 10 am with the general admission gates opening at 3 pm. There will be a drivers meeting at 12:45 pm with time trials beginning at 4:15 pm. Races will start at approximately 5:30 pm.
