Fireworks & Demo Derby Highlight Miller Lite Night

The 4th of July holiday weekend will shift into high gear at Barbara & Jim Cromarty’s Riverhead Raceway Saturday evening July 5th when the historic track presents the annual Independence Day spectacular. Another breath taking Bay Fireworks display, the Cromarty Cup 50 for the NASCAR Modifieds and an 8-Cylinder Demolition Derby will highlight the busy program that starts at 6:00 pm.

Every year Bay Fireworks, a home grown Long Island based firm, pulls out all the stops for the display at Riverhead Raceway with a breath taking display that unfolds to a wonderful musical arrangement. It is expected that the 2014 4th of July display will be bigger and better that ever before. That will not be the only Fireworks on the night as the night will conclude with a bone jarring, car destroying 8-Cylinder Demolition Derby. Jimmy “The Kid” White Jr. of Southampton will look to back up his June victory with another win and will be joined by the likes of “The 911” George Astacio of Shirley, Rich Fowler of Wantagh and “Orange Crash” Peter Mikos of Lake Ronkonkoma.

Prior to the Bay Fireworks and Demolition Derby a full slate of NASCAR Whelen All- American Series stock car racing will be presented with the annual Cromarty Cup 50 NASCAR Modified event leading the way. Ryan Preece of Berlin, Ct is the defending race winner and is expected to defend that title with both Timmy Solomito of Islip and Howie Brode of East Islip who chased Ryan last year seeking the Cromarty Cup this year. Other drivers looking to visit with Barbara & Jim Cromarty in victory lane July 5th are Tom Rogers Jr. of Riverhead, Dave Sapienza of Riverhead, Jason Agugliaro of Islip, Eddie Brunnhoelzl III of Levittown, Kyle Ellwood of Riverhead and Ken Darch also of Riverhead.

Completing the card will be the “world famous” Figure Eight stock cars who are making their first start after a two week layoff, plus Chargers, Blunderbusts and Legend Race Cars. All will run in 20 lap main events with the exception of the Figure Eights who will race a 15-lap distance. All feature event winners will collect a handsome Miller Lite trophy from Al Frazer, director of marketing for Boening Brothers of Lindenhurst as well as a couple of cases of great tasting Miller Lite.
