Fireworks & Demo Derby Set For July 4th 65th Anniversary Celebration at Riverhead

Annually at Riverhead Raceway the Independence Day Fireworks program is a special one but this year with the show falling on July 4th itself coupled with the celebration of the 65th Anniversary of the track the show indeed will become a huge event. Highlighting the NASCAR stock portion of the program will be the Cromarty Cup 65 for the NASCAR Modifieds.

Once again the Fireworks show will be presented by Long Island based  Bay Fireworks who have promised a “epic” show for the combined July 4th and 65th Anniversary program. In the past Bay Fireworks have provided some patriotic and breathtaking pyrotechnic displays which are complimented by heartwarming musical accompaniment. From all indications the July 4th show is one not to be missed.

Prior to Fireworks the NASCAR Modified class will battle for the Cromarty Cup which is normally a 50-lap race but for this special occasion will be increased to 65-laps. The race has been presented yearly in honor of Jim Cromarty’s July 2nd Birthday.

The death defying Figure Eight racers will be on the card and with the July 4th race being their first in nearly a month the action at the “X” should be fast and furious. Also in action are the Chargers, Blunderbusts and Legend Race Cars in 20-lap main events.

After all the racing and fireworks have been presented the daredevils of the Demolition Derby wars will take to the track for a bone jarring, car destroying contest. This will be the third Demo of 2015 under the new “bone stock” rules with such names as “Mad” Mike Smith, “Pistol” Pete Mikos, “Curious” George Astacio and “Hollywood” Ken Hyde Jr,. expected to compete.

There is one place to celebrate the United States of America and July 4th and that is Riverhead Raceway. What is more American than a NASCAR stock car and Fireworks show with a Demolition Derby to cap it all off.
