Van Houten Continues to Live The Dream

Driver of the No. 3v Legend Car, Mike Van Houten can’t wait for more fun in the 2016 season.

“I don’t race to win,” said Van Houten, “I race to have the most fun in the entire pit area. Finishing in the top 3 would be downright sick but that’s not what my racing endeavors are all about.”

Van Houten hopes to have as much success as last season with three top ten finishes but with whatever happens he just loves getting involved.

“I truly love everything I’ve been able to do,” said Van Houten, “I never take it for granted and I feel truly blessed to do what I do on Saturday nights.”

Van Houten has added two new sponsors to his car since last season, Vista Landscape & Maintenance and John’s Tree Removal. Along with his long time sponsors, Ralph’s Famous Italian Ice of Riverhead, Van Houten Trucking, Hagerman Systems, FB Performance Transmissions, TJ Halpins, Clark & Associates and Kurly Kreations. He also enjoys sharing the track with his brother, Brad and cousin Kyle.

“I’m truly blown away by what’s going to happen this season,” said Van Houten, “I’m getting my very own ‘Candied Pit Stop’ at Ralph’s this year in Riverhead all due to my racing and I’m doing it for the kids.”

Van Houten plans on racing until the fun of it all runs out. “I’ve been a crew guy for over 25 years,” said Van Houten, “and when driving is no longer fun I’ll be done racing and I’ll go back to being on someone’s crew.”

Van Houten wants to maintain his streak of having fun since he started racing four years ago. “I stand by what I preach, I’m living dreams.”
