Dylan Slepian to Return to Legends with Smith Racing
The Smith Racing team who field a INEX Legend Race Car team at Riverhead Raceway weekly announced recently they have signed defending Legends champion Dylan Slepian of Dix Hills as their driver for 2016. The new tandem will make their debut together this Saturday night May 14th Grand Opening Night at Riverhead Raceway on a card that includes a huge Fireworks Spectacular starting at 6:30 pm.
Simply stated the 2015 season was beyond a career year for Dylan Slepian as after scoring his first career Legend Race Car win early in the season would tally a total of six main event wins on his way to the 2015 title. When it was announced by new track owners Eddie & Connie Partridge and Tom Gatz a new class, the Riverhead Modified Crates would be part of the 2016 schedule, Slepian figured that would be the next logical step in his racing endeavors. In the fall Dylan was able to sell his championship car to John Mackie and at the famed Thompson Speedway Flea Market he bought a Modified type car for the RMC class.
“I’m pretty excited Smith Racing asked my to drive their potent Legend Race Car” Slepian offered. “This opportunity allows me to keep racing in perhaps the most competitive division at Riverhead and shoot for another championship”. For the Riverhead Modified Crate class Dylan will field his self owned machine with sponsorship from Hurricane Grill & Wings of Manorville.
Bill Smith of Wild Child Designs and Smith Racing furthered, “We are very excited not only to announce Dylan as our new driver but also some great new sponsors who we’ve signed on for 2016”. The Smith Racing Team will fly the colors of World of Cars of Rocky Point, Westhampton True Value, Vape Pro Vape Shop & Lounge of Riverhead and Selden, KBR Race Cars, Oval Speed Unlimited, D&K Motorsports and McCormick Motorsports.
The 2016 INEX Legend Race Car season will kick off this Saturday May 14th with a 20-lap Grand Opening Night feature event at Riverhead Raceway. Joining them are the NASCAR Modifieds, Late Models, Riverhead Modified Crates, Blunderbusts and Super Pro Trucks. After all racing is completed a huge Fireworks display will complete an exciting Grand Opening Night program!
Spectator gates will open at 4:00 pm Saturday night with heat races as well live music in our third turn Beer Garden starting at 4:30 pm. Feature event racing will go green at 6:30 pm.
