66-lap Modified Feature Event & Fireworks Set for Riverhead 66th Anniversary Celebration

Riverhead Raceway owners Eddie & Connie Partridge and Tom Gatz will be hosting their first 4th of July celebration at the famed quarter mile oval Saturday July 2nd complete with a spectacular Fireworks display, 66-lap NASCAR Modified feature event plus a Demolition Derby to complete the program. A full slate of NASCAR Whelen All-American Series racing will join the new track owners in marking the 66th anniversary of the Route 58 speed plant.

Long Island’s own Bay Fireworks will again provide the pyrotechnics that will light up the night sky marking the 240th birthday of the United States of America and the 66th birthday for the track. The display will once again be accompanied by a musical arrangement with Bay Fireworks promising another breathtaking show. After all the racing and Fireworks have been completed the daredevils of the Demolition Derby ranks will take to the track running in honor of the late former National Demolition Derby champion “Captain Destructo” Brian Savoy who passed away during the off season due to Kidney disease.

To further commemorate the 66th Year celebration of Riverhead Raceway a 66-lap NASCAR Modified feature is planned for the July 2nd program. The race also marks the halfway mark of the 2016 championship chase and top contenders Shawn Solomito of Center Moriches, John Fortin Sr. of Holtsville and Dave Brigati of Calverton will be looking for the big win. Also in contention will be defending NASCAR Modified champion Tom Rogers Jr. of Riverhead, Howie Brode of East Islip, Vinny Biondolillo of Farmingville, John Fortin Jr. of Holtsville, Kyle Soper of Manorville, Cory Midgett of East Hampton, John Baker of Brookhaven and Ken Darch of Riverhead are all also looking for a good night.

In action July 2nd are the Late Models, Figure Eights, Super Pro Trucks and a Grand Enduro. Feature racing will start at 7:00 pm and be proceeded by qualifying, spectator gates will swing open at 4:00 pm.
