Talmage Farms Agway to Sponsor Chargers

Riverhead Raceway officials announced today that Talmage Farms Agway located just east of the raceway has signed on as a seasonal sponsor for the Charger division in 2013 starting with the opening night May 4th feature event. Talmage Farms Agway serves as the local Husqvarna Power Equipment dealer and as part of their seasonal sponsorship will add money to the weekly purse and host a “night at the races” July 27th. Six divisions of NASCAR Whelen All-American Series will join the Chargers on the opening night program Saturday May 4th that starts at 5:30 pm.

“It’s great having our local business merchants involved with us at Riverhead Raceway,” John Ellwood facilities manager who signed Talmage Farms Agway, noted in making the sponsorship announcement. Talmage Farms Agway is located at 1122 Osborne Avenue which is just a mile or so east of Riverhead Raceway off Route 58. “We feel our involvement at Riverhead Raceway will be beneficial in promoting our Husqvarna Power Equipment line along with our retail garden center and animal feeds” Doug Talmage disclosed. Husqvarna has had prior involvement with NASCAR in their “big three” national touring series.

The July 27th night at the races saluting the Talmage Farms Agway Charger sponsorship will be a marquee race card featuring a Full Size School Bus Demolition Derby and an 8-Cylinder Demolition Derby turning the night into a virtual “night of thrills”. The NASCAR Modifieds, Blunderbusts, Legend Race Cars and a Grand Enduro will make-up the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series stock car portion of the evening.

Talmage Farms Agway joins the already announced PRC Industries Inc. as a Charger marketing partner for 2013.

The 2013 Charger season is shaping up nicely going into the May 4th opener with Jeremy McDermott of Riverhead the defending champion in the class. Among those looking to grab the brass ring from McDermott this year include last year’s championship runner-up Eric Zeh of Selden, former four time champion Chris Turbush of Riverhead, John Baker of Brookhaven, CJ Lehmann of Shirley, “Radiant” Ray Minieri of Bay Shore, Cory Midget of East Hampton, Jayson White of Hicksville and Derek Stachecki of Southampton.

Three returning veterans also may have a say in the 2013 Charger championship chase as Steve Ratti of Manorville will return driving for James Becht, Tom Anderson of Medford returns in a mount owned by Joe Paprocky and Jay Henschel of Levittown will steer a Spencer Siebel owned machine. All three are tested tough wheelman, with Ratti a former class champion himself.

The 2013 season at Riverhead Raceway will step off in a big way with 180-laps of feature event racing May 4th at 5:30 pm. The NASCAR Modifieds will lead the way in a Twin 30 format with the Late Models going 25 laps. The Chargers, Blunderbusts, Super Pro Trucks and Legend Race Cars will all go a scheduled 20 laps while the night ending Figure Eights race for 15 circuits. The NASCAR Modifieds and Legend Race Cars will time trial to set their opening night fields.
