Rogers Captures Baldwin, Evans & Jarzombek Memorial 77

Tom Rogers Jr. captured his third win of the season last night during the Baldwin, Evans and Jarzombek 77-lap feature event. After setting fast time once again this season in qualifying with a lap of 11.864, he then redrew the 7th starting position in the 18-car field.

The race began at a slow pace as the first caution was flown before the completion of the second lap. John Beatty Jr., Brad Van Houten, Howie Brode, Jason Agugliaro and Frank Vigliarolo were involved in a crash on the back stretch going into turn three.

By lap 5, Ron Silk who had redrawn the pole earlier in the day, still maintained his position. Vincent Biondolillo had found his way into second with Dave Brigati in third and Tom Rogers Jr. following close behind. On the lap 14 restart, Brigati was running second alongside Silk until they made contact, which forced Brigati into the wall hard. This allowed Rogers to move into second.

A lap later in-between turns 3 and 4, Rogers seized the opportunity and took the lead from Silk. After multiple cautions and a red flag, Tom Rogers Jr. crossed the finish line first and captured the Baldwin, Evans and Jarzombek 77 Memorial trophy. Ron Silk finished second, Ryan Preece who started at the rear of the pack finished third, Jeff Goodale finished fourth and Eddie Brunnhoelzl III round out the top five.

First Career Win in F8 for Lehmann

Before the first lap could be put down into the record book, the No. 9 car of Gary Fritz Jr. spins in the intersection bringing out the first caution. The No. 66 car being driven by Tom Rogers Jr. was then put to the rear of the field for spinning Fritz.

CJ Lehmann driver of the No. 19 takes an early lead going into lap 2. By lap 11, a strong battle over second begins between the 2012 Figure 8 Champion Kenny Hyde Jr. and Roger Maynor. Both of which are charging Lehmann who is able to hold both of them off to capture his first ever Figure 8 win.

“I told everyone that I would win a race in the Figure 8 this year, and no one believed me,” said Lehmann, “well they do now.”

Minieri Holds Off Lehmann for Win in Chargers

Minieri started in third but by lap 6 he was battling for the lead with pole sitter Greg Immerman. Although before he could capture the win, he had to hold off the 81 of Chris Turbush who decided to go three-wide on lap 8 going into turn three, which forced himself, Immerman and CJ Lehmann into the wall. This allowed Minieri to move into first.

After numerous attempts by Lehmann at making a pass, Minieri still takes the checkered. Currently Minieri sits fourth in points with 18 markers separating him from third, who happens to be CJ Lehmann. Chris Turbush remains leader in the points over Eric Zeh with a difference of only 4 markers.

Handley Takes Down Third Win of the Season

Jessica Cohen started the Blunderbust race on the pole but by lap 6, Bryan Sescila took away her lead. Sescila’s lead was even shorter than Cohen’s when by lap 10, Tim Mulqueen began running first and had his eyes set on his second consecutive win.

Although during the lap 14 caution, officials notice that Mulqueen’s window net was down and happened to be sitting in turn four. This forced him to pit for repairs and relinquish his lead. This allowed Tom Sullivan to move into first and Jack Handley Jr. into second.

With only a few laps to go, Handley and Sullivan begin battling door to door. While heading into turn four for the checkered, Handley ended up crossing the finish line first. Jack Handley Jr. currently sits at the top of the point standings with 26 markers between him and Tom Pickerell.

Delaney Goes Three Wide to Take the Lead

Vinny Delaney in the No. 17 Legend started the race from the 5th position and it didn’t take long for him to move up the ranks. On lap 8, he decided to go three wide in order to pass Eric Hersey and Brad Van Houten. All three drivers ran three wide going into turns 1, 2 and 3 until Delaney was able to settle into first with Van Houten running second followed by Hersey.

In the end, Delaney was able to hold off Van Houten and take the win. Artie Pedersen III, Kyle Soper and Shawn Wanat round out the top five.
