Riverhead Enduro & Demo Derby Meeting To Be Held At L.I. Swap Shop on Dec. 7th

Riverhead Raceway co-chief stewards Mike Cappiello and Steve Tooker announced recently they will once again hold a meeting for drivers and race teams that compete in the successful Enduro race series at the historic quarter mile oval on Sunday December 7th at 12 noon. The meeting will once again coincide with Bob Finan’s annual Long Island Automotive Swap Shop that will start 10:00 am.

“Last year we got some great feedback from our loyal Enduro teams and we put some of their suggestions into play” Mike Cappiello noted. “We look forward to getting some feedback from them again and we will also be addressing what we will be expecting of them”. Joining Cappiello and Steve Tooker at the gathering will be Riverhead Raceway’s Chief Inspector Walter Bonzcyk who will alert teams to any changes for the 2015 season that starts Sunday afternoon May 3rd, Walter will also field questions. Terry Fallon and Dale Doherty from Bonzcyk’s staff are also expected to be on hand.

It has also been announced by Riverhead Raceway track manager John Ellwood that a Demolition Derby meeting will also be held at 12 noon during the Long Island Automotive Swap Shop. “I’m going to introduce and take feedback on our all new Demolition Derby rules package for 2015” John announced. “The Demolition Derby events whether they are of the 4 or 8-Cylinder variety will be as they say “cut & go” or “bone stock” if you prefer.” Ellwood did specify that the new Demolition Derby rules for 2015 would be for regular season events and not for the annual MIller Lite National Demolition Derby Championship in September.

With the rules meeting schedule in conjunction with his Long Island Automotive Swap Shop Bob Finan feels the timing is just right, “Enduro teams can, as they say, get two birds with one stone, so clean out your race shop of unwanted inventory and bring it to the swap shop and attend your meeting. Hey you might make some money in the process, or for those just starting in Enduro racing for you it is a great venue to buy some much needed parts, trailers or safety equipment”. Finan also disclosed that Robert Clock would again be on hand with his vast collection of nostalgia photo albums from the “Golden Era” of racing and encourages others to join his and bring their albums as well.

The Long Island Automotive Swap Shop is a virtual race car flea market with all things racing for sale including complete race cars, race engines, wheels, seats, fuel cells, open or enclosed trailers, racing radios and headsets and everything you can imagine.

Pit gates will open at 9:30 am with vendors being charged a modest $20 per vendor spot with general admission set at just $5. No reservations are needed or taken for the L.I. Swap Shop and for further information please contact Bob Finan @ rwf58@aol.com or on his Facebook page.
